About the Event

Bring your memoir to life and participate in an interactive workshop that introduces DBT, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy skills, specifically targeted for writers & creatives.  Want to go deeper with your writing and character development? This interactive session includes mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance skills for writers, as well as interactive practice with writing prompts.  


Come prepared with curiosity and without self-stigma to write. This session will have five interactive component parts including:


  • Going Deeper ~ An overview of skills for writers writing memoir, and creatives who want to prioritize their own health and wellbeing while writing. 

  • Mindfulness Practice: R.A.I.N. ~ Mindfulness practice for writers & creative

  • Willing Hands / Half Smile video ~ Emotional regulation for writers & creatives 

  • Radical Acceptance skills ~  Distress Tolerance skills for writers  & creatives

  • Writing for Emotional Regulation ~  Short snappers and longer writing prompts.

About Jocelyn Bystrom


Jocelyn Bystrom is an author, keynote speaker, and educator with a reputation for challenging the status quo when it comes to healthcare. Her first book, FiNDing Hope: The Mind-Body Connection & Importance of Being Seen and Heard, was published in 2023. Jocelyn has made a name for herself as an educational leader, K-8th grade teacher, Adlerian School Counsellor, and Gifted Education Specialist. Jocelyn blogs to share mental health and FND-related content, aiming to provide valuable insights, resources, and wisdom.  A self-described articulate, career-minded perfectionist, she has a special passion for mental health advocacy.
