David Cameron
David Cameron is well known on Bowen Island as an actor, playwright, storyteller and renovator of houses. With his wife, actress Jackie Minns and their company, Kingbaby Productions, David has created a body of work that includes plays such as Mad Mabel's Christmas, The View and La Vita Grande that resonate well with their Bowen fans and with audiences that they have toured to across Canada. David is our MC for Island Voices; West Coast Words on Friday, September 12, at 7:30 PM at the Library Annex, plus he will be sharing one of his own stories.

Andrew Buckley
Andrew Buckley is an accomplished storyteller, educator, and keynote speaker with over two decades of experience in creative writing, storytelling, and marketing. Andrew has established himself as a versatile creator across multiple platforms, including novels, comic books, screenplays, and podcasts. Andrew Buckley is a self-proclaimed film school-educated writer, which means he’s spent most of his life with no money and a strong opinion about bad movies. He says he has a terrible habit of writing with a humorous and satirical slant despite being asked politely on numerous occasions to “please stop doing that.”

Jennifer Sommersby
Jenn Sommersby is a novelist, freelance editor, publishing educator, and Superman nut. A graduate of SFU’s Writer’s Studio (2007), her YA debut, Sleight, was a Canadian Children’s Book Centre Best Book for Kids & Teens (fall 2018) and an Ontario Library Association Best Bets Honourable Mention Book for Young Adults (2019). Jenn was also awarded a BC Arts Council Grant in 2019 for a YA eco-fiction/dystopian novel about water scarcity. She’s written a baker’s dozen books as Sommersby and Eliza Gordon, including best-selling rom-com titles, and her most recent women’s fiction project, Wish Upon a Rosie, released in February 2026. Jenn’s first nonfiction advice/craft/confessional in a new series aptly titled Please Don’t Make Me Read This is scheduled to publish in late 2026.

Aaron Rabinowitz
Aaron Rabinowitz is the author of the poetry collection Suggestions (Gaspereau Press, 2026). He is the winner of PRISM international’s Creative Nonfiction Contest and the Meridian Short Prose Prize. His work appears journals such as Grain, Prairie Fire, The Southern Review, and The Malahat Review, and has been cited as a Best American Essays Notable.

Calder Stewart
Calder's love of theatre and storytelling started at 6 years old when he played a rat in the Tir-na-nOg Theatre School's winter production of The Nutcracker, and he's been hooked ever since. He has been in many Bowen Theatre productions over the years and in 2019 he made his directorial debut with Theatre on the Isle's production of Blood Relations.
His (very) short play Enough Said was written and first performed in 2005 with friend and collaborator Chris Rowlands. He currently teaches theatre at the Tir-na-nOg Theatre School and works as an acting coach in North Vancouver.

Samantha Adkins
Samantha Adkins is a writer and teacher, and former Bowen Islander, now living on Vancouver Island. She has published four Jane Austen-inspired novels The Jane Austen Contest, Expectations, Suspiciously Reserved, and Banff Springs Abbey as well as three women’s fiction novels Enough, Emmy in Harding, and After His Heart.
In 2025, Samantha led a workshop on writing Jane Austen Fan Fiction at the JASNA Wit and Wisdom Conference in Victoria, BC. She was also a moderator at the When Words Collide Conference in 2025 titled Mi Setting, Su Setting, a panelist in 2024 Writing for Pure Joy, and a moderator for Everything you wanted to know about romance in books (but were afraid to ask!). Samantha is currently a member of Victoria Writers Society and The Jane Austen Society of North America – Victoria.

Pauline Le Bel
Pauline Le Bel is an Emmy-nominated screenwriter, the author of an award-winning novel, two books of non-fiction, two poetry books, several plays and musicals, and five CDs of her original songs. She performed in musical theatre across Canada and was called “a musical instrument linked to a soul” for her passionate portrayal of chanteuse Edith Piaf. Pauline offers “Way To Go! Workshops” using her music and poetry to invite thoughtful conversation on the end of life. She is founder of “Knowing Our Place” a Reconciliation Initiative. Her current project is a book of essays on the power of singing.
