Have you been to Bowen? If so, what are you looking forward to. If not, what do you hope to find?

While my partner has visited Bowen, I've never been there before. I've heard wonderful things about it and, as a horror fan, was excited to learn that Bowen has served as a setting for all sorts of spooky shenanigans. I'm looking forward to being inspired by the festival and the locale. 

What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?

I'm an oddly multi-faceted writer. While primarily I'm an author of fiction, I also write for multiple age groups including early readers, middle grade, YA, and adults. I'm also a credited screenwriter, a comic book writer, and write immersive story events like murder mystery parties and interactive staged radio shows.

What’s the best words of advice on writing you’ve ever been given?

I wish I could credit this to someone, but I can't remember who told me to not just write what I know, but instead write what you're passionate about. I think it's important for writers to understand they're not restricted by genre or age and that the writing journey is one with many roads, secret tunnels, and the occasional rickety-looking bridge. 

What do you like to read? Is there a book you could recommend?

I have three go-to recommendations at the moment: The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is my all time favourite novel and I recommend it to everyone because it's a story you can get lost in. The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch is a masterclass of worldbuilding and gorgeous storytelling through dialogue. And The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune is an astounding combination of emotionally charged prose and child-like whimsy (it'll make you cry happy tears).
