INTERVIEW WITH
Samantha Adkins
Have you been to Bowen? If so, what are you looking forward to. If not, what do you hope to find?
I lived on Bowen for nine magical years. I am so looking forward to seeing friends, meeting other writers, and "soaking" in the unique atmosphere of Bowen Island.
What's one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
People are often surprised that I was born and raised in Banff. Yes, people actually live there!
What’s the best words of advice on writing you’ve ever been given?
When I quit my journalism program to pursue creative writing, my professor asked me who was going to support me. I'm so glad I am also an elementary school teacher, so I can write with freedom and joy, rather than relying on my writing to support me.
What do you like to read? Is there a book you could recommend?
I will limit myself to three books: Foster by Claire Keegan, Still LIfe by Louise Penny, and Nothing You Can Carry by Susan Alexander.
Samantha will be leading an inspiring workshop -- A Twist of Imagination -- on Saturday, September 19 and will also be presenting at the Literary Cabaret on Saturday evening.
