About the Event
Having trouble getting started on your next (or first) writing project? Come with your favourite book, song, short story, fairy tale, or poem and discover how to reimagine it into your own offering. Join novelist and educator, Samantha Adkins, as she shares how she has crafted well-loved stories into new offerings. Then you will be offered time and space for several writing prompts in a safe, encouraging atmosphere. Finally, you will be invited to share your new creation in a celebratory group reading. All writing genres welcome!
About Samantha Adkins
Samantha is a writer and teacher living on Vancouver Island. She has published four Jane Austen-inspired novels The Jane Austen Contest, Expectations, Suspiciously Reserved, and Banff Springs Abbey as well as three women’s fiction novels Enough, Emmy in Harding, and After His Heart.
In 2025, Samantha led a workshop on writing Jane Austen Fan Fiction at the JASNA Wit and Wisdom Conference in Victoria, BC. She was also a moderator at the When Words Collide Conference in 2025 titled Mi Setting, Su Setting, a panelist in 2024 Writing for Pure Joy, and a moderator for Everything you wanted to know about romance in books (but were afraid to ask!). In 2024, she was a Literary Arts presenter as part of the Bowen Arts Tour. Her favourite presentation experience was at Sampler: A night of music, stories, and stitchery at The Hearth Gallery in 2023, a collaboration with fellow artists, Cindy Fairbank and Sarah Haxby. Samantha is currently a member of Victoria Writers Society and The Jane Austen Society of North America – Victoria.
