About the Event

Whether it's procrastination, lack of confidence, or just setting aside the time and energy to hone your writing craft, you can break through the barriers by harnessing proven techniques for overcoming mental blocks. Our hands-on workshop will explore some effective ways to spark ideas and generate a greater quality and quantity of material as we practice interactive and individual strategies to take us from pre-writing towards a finished piece. Bring along your notebook, and get ready to write your way through to success!

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Deborah Blenkhorn has taught at UBC for the English department, Sauder School of Business, the Faculty of Engineering, Extended Learning, UBC Future Global Leaders program, and interdisciplinary studies programs. She has also been a writing instructor at SFU's Segal Graduate School of Business, and currently teaches undergraduate English at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Besides her academic articles and book reviews, and participating in reading and writing groups, Deborah's projects include autobiographical fiction and community outreach. Her new textbook, An Introduction to Academic Reading and Writing for University Students, provides practical exercises and resource materials for lifelong learners of the writing craft.
