From a Child's Point of View: Voice and Language in Children's Books with Sara Leach
Mine your childhood emotions and use those memories to create characters, conflict and language that will resonate with children. In this workshop, Sara will discuss the structure of picture books, chapter books and middle-grade novels. Participants will take part in fun exercises to tap into memories, play with language and create audience-appropriate similes and metaphors.
Sara Leach is the author of nine books for children, including the acclaimed Slug Days trilogy. Her middle grade novel, Count Me In, has been translated into four languages, and won the Red Cedar Book Award.
